Question Where do YOU put your fire extinguisher?

Ok, so all this fire stuff lately...coupled with my found leaky injector....has caused me to take the plunge.

I am putting an extinguisher on board.

Problem.....

I have women (well, some are girls) in my car often.
Some sophisticated, some wild, most high maintenance.

They will NOT dig the fire can.

Any ideas?

I have mine on the floor behind the passenger seat right now. It came with a heavy duty velcro mount.

I figured, I can't put a person back there, so might as well use the space. I've seen one mounted on the rear wheel well, next to the back seat that looked good.

I built a center armrest/console, padded it, covered with matching vinyl and the extinguisher resides there between the seats.

I mounted mine to the back of the rear seat, where it folds down.
It's really easy to get to if something happens. It came with a strap to screw it in with, that just unclips and you can take the extinguisher.
I didn't want to impede on my passenger space either, and I always have my socket set on the floor in the back on the passenger side, and my HUGE cd collection (160 CD's) on the driver's side floor, so they are both secure(ish).

I'm not sure about the velcro either, but it appears to be an industrial grade. It is difficult to pull off of the floor, not to mention it is wedged in there. I intend for this placement to be temporary until I find a permanent place to mount one.

I fabricated a mount similar to the Brey-Krause fire extinguisher bracket from some scrap metal that I had laying around. It's mounted to the front of the passenger seat. The seat is kind of hard to move forward now but the fire extinguisher is within arms reach. I saved myself about $70 too...

I have mine bolted to the roll bar (roughly where the passanger rear seat is). Make sure your extinguisher has enough capacity, if you actually want it to have a chanse of being usefull. Mine's a 5liter.

Hmm, mine is a 2.5lb extinguisher. I figuired it would put out any fire my leaky fuel line would have caused.
When I was picking a place, I decided it had to be within arms reach, so I could grab it before I got out, instead of hoping the hatch will open, then having to grab it, and try to put the fire out.

dump the girls, they are all pains and not worth the trouble anyway. Any girl who would put her comfort ahead of your car isnt worth your time

Isn't a 5 liter HUGE?
I wouldn't buy one of those superslim models but 5 liters..Wow!

So far I think I like the sock mount best

I have two:
One mounted infront of the passenger seat with a Stable Energies FE mount, and one mounted to my Redline Rollbar behind me.

The one infront of the passenger's seat can get in the way a little: just ask my wife who's smashed her ankle into the FE a couple of times!
