how to detect which rotors are warped

So I've known for some time that at least one of my rotors is moderately warped. Symptoms were vibration on braking that got more intense with more speed. Nothing so bad it would be dangerous (yet), but obviously needs to be resolved.

So I will have to replace the offending rotor(s). I am pretty sure I need to replace in pairs, so I will have at least 2 rotors to buy, and if at least one front and one back is gone, then I need 4! I already bought 4 brake pads, but I read that I should pair new pads with new rotors so I am waiting on installing the pads.

So... the purpose of the post? I need someone to tell me how to tell which rotor is warped?

And then, for bonus points, you could tell me if I should go OEM, or suggest something else.

Use a "true bar", basically a well machined piece of steel about as big around and as long as your pinky.....you put the bar on the surface, and see if you can see light underneath it.

Seems like a good place for a T-square..

....but....I think my rotors have an unused "rim" around them.

The emergency brake is at the back, right? So when its safe put the emergency brake on GENTLY and if its the back rotors it should judder - no juddering and its only the fronts.

Clamp a dial indicator to the caliper and spin the rotor. Just get a cheap dial indicator @ Harbor freight and a big c clamp. You will need a mounting bar extension for the indicator.

won't a brake place or an alignment shop tell you for free?
