When was the last time you changed your timing and balance belts and/or cam chain and tensioner?

Here is an article on this topic.

http://www.924.org/techsection/GarageFAQ.htm#engineswap

Unfortunately, it doesn't provide a how-to list. Good luck finding that.

924.org doesn't have anything about a turbo add on, they just dump a 951 engine and trans into a 924

They have extensive contacts with 931 (turbo 924) owners. This is the resource you need to explore. Not the engine swap.

Even the 924 site says the same thing about taking an NA and making a turbo -- go buy one!

I can well appreciate doing with what one has.

Still there comes a point in the process where it becomes overly costly verses just buying a turbo. In your case the 931 (924 turbo) can be found and bought for less than what it will cost to change the 4 lug 924 into a 931.

But then it's your money and your time.

Good luck.

I respect that a lot.

But trust me man..you will NOT get a clear answer on this site..

You just wont.

I find..no matter how much you say that you dont want to buy another car...or things of that sort..they will keep saying the same thing over and over...

For me..it was "buy a 951" or "what if your insurance finds out" and other stuff..

For you it will be the same..except "buy a 931"

Do yourself a favor...dont post here in regards to the engine swap. If you need it done..go talk to some porsche mechanics..because all you will get here is people flaming you.

Dont let this discourage you PLEASE. Keep up the fight. I also wanna see the progress.

Dished pistions. Lowers the compression ratio to 7.5:1.

Some serious exhaust tubing rerouting.

i have heard of people just running with the same 9.3:1 compression pistons but running the turbo at a lower boost psi, thus allowing for lower boost and fast spooling and less turbo lag

Welcome to the board...

Where to start... uhmmmm

I guess you know your goal...... 81' GTR.

1st thing we must come to grips with.

(81' 924) NOT EQUAL TO (81' 931) WHICH IS NOT EQUAL TO (81' GTR)

To make the equations balance...... you have to add ~$5K to the 81'924 to take the ~100hp to ~150 hp found in the 931' (thats if you know what you are doing)

To continue with the equation..... and try and calculate what it will cost you to make a >300HP car with your 924............ lets just say for that ...there is MASTERCARD

I am not sure if you want to go through all this trouble on the platform you are starting of with.... but

Unlike Zlatko who has modified countless of 924's, 944s and understands what it takes to make a realiable track/daily driver I will let my ignorance speak for me and I will try to steer you away from such a project .........but if you are dead set on doing one..... Sure we can help.
