Angry Old Cranky does it again

today i wanted to prep the car for technical checkup to be road legal... the last months i spent fixing things and it looked as if i was getting on top of the ****...starting cold and hot are fine.. everything else seems to work...all i need is brake adjustment and tightening the belt....

when i almost arrive at the shop, poooof white smoke
the water hose that attaches to the cabin heater system had failed...

easy to fix, reattach hose... next

next on the list , tighten the belt... done
readjust rear brakes...done

replace the right front light hose, the small one that doesn't go in and out... done wait , now the high beam on the left one doesn't work no more... @#$@#

check wires, no voltage... notice a little wire going to the right headlight.. busted ...

new wire.. done.. not so it twists in the headlight raising assembly.. shorts out the electrics..

back to square one.. new wires , connectors . headlights work...

when i think i'm done... not so reverse gear light is out.. and fuse 9 keeps shorting out...haynes manual proves useless once again since fuse 9 is supposed to be the brakelights and the direction indicators...and those actually work.

gave up , drove home... got in traffic jam... guess what..

fan is out too...running hot ...

starting to think that Old Cranky is jinxed and is wilfully trying to piss me off because it's jealeous of the 911 beeing restored from the chassis up...

tomorrow another attempt to please the green machine...

i'm not bothered, i have both the 911 and the VW waterpumper porsche and i like em both... i'm not ashamed of the fact that a bug is basically a Porsche, and VW ag is family of Porsche ag

EDIT... and i probably will get myself a bug sooner or later...
if i'll wack a 911 engine in it will depend on what i want to do with the bug...
if for practical use , not ,
anything else flat six transplant....

correction , the above bug doesn't have a 911 engine, it's a 356 engine

cooling problem sorted out > forgot to bleed the cooling system , had some air left in it ...

the short cirtuit is kind sorted > the reverse gear light and the horn are on the same fuse ..
horn relay removal > still shorts the fuse
remove the reverse switch from the tranny > still shorts

>> there's a wire that connects to two of the contacts of the horn relay >
cut that wire > fuse doesn't burn out anymore

slight problem > need to get a technical check to get the cars papers sorted.. but the horn is part of the deal...

finding the short is a needle in the haystack
i might just create a whole new circuit for the horn....

the only thing that worries me now is :
if i fix the horn > what will break then?!?!?!

past expierience is that for every thingie i fix , something will break withing 12 hours or less...

oh yeah .. got a ticket today because i didn't have the tech-check certification ... and the reason why they stopped me ??

the cops thought that the smaller lights below the headlights are foglights
,and foglights are a no-no when there is no fog...

interesting forcast .. evertime a cop sees me in the dark , i'm going to get pulled over , because they think those are foglights when in fact i don't have foglights at all, front or rear.. and i can't disconnect those lights or i fail the tech checkup

i seem to pick my cars just as i pick my women :
high maintenance , and no chance of getting peace of mind ...

i should get me a Toyota Hi-Lux and a peasant girl instead

update,
monday, she passed the APK tech test, and is road legal now...
i was very happy, for a bout 6 hours... then i noticed smoke
mildly , couldn't see where it came from , it wasn't much

today i found it , oil dripping on the exhaust,
looks like i'll be replacing the head gasket this weekend

by the time i got to the shop, a new development :
all of the sudden , i park, checkout some things, wanna drive a bit...got a knock somewhere, speed related, not engine...
not identified yet, but hey , why not ... i've always wanted to replace bearings/axles sometime in my life...

good thing is , the 911 is ready for the welder/paintshop , with some luck that one will be ready for action soon, and the weather will clear up...i should get myself a different hobby, shuffle board looks good, little room for technical gremlins...

Cam cover gasket. Not head.

Oops a 924. Well never mind!

yeah , i would if i could , i do want to .. .but the thing is ,

i've pissed my money away buying and restoring a 911

this 924 was just intended to be my simple get me from A to B during winter time car... by now i've spend my money on the 924, and if i sell it ( read , dump it to a parts stripper ) i'll basically get enough money to pay for a second hand scooter...
which still would be crap in cold weather...

might as well bite the bullit and fix the car... and maybe be dry till springtime911time

parts are relatively cheap, it's more time and inconvenience...than money... and no i don't hate the green one, i like it when it runs...
but it's a frustrating thing to suspect your car is jinxed

Exorcism

Voodoo ritual

Check under the seats for potions or spells

Maybe just go do something nice for her - professional detailing or something.

BTW- congrats on getting it sorted

needless update on this

she behaved for about a month now, it's are record ( i'll overlook the minor hickups like starter motor sometimes choking, since it never failed completely)

but now my fuel pump is going south
i'll be heading for the chicken farm tomorrow, to get me some birds for a new voodoo sacrifice
