I went to see yet another cheap 951 today in Arlington Texas. The guy promised it was basically perfect for $5500. I had cash in hand and drove like 11 hours round trip. Seats torn all over, shift boot completely torn out, turbo barely registering, seat seemed broken, no records at all. I got there and he said a guy from north carolina was wiring some money and sending a transport. Turns out the guy sells 2-3 of these a month on average. He got this one at the auction for 2200. Thats a quick 150% profit w/o improving it a dime. He told me if he hadnt got that guy wiring the money that he would have let it go for 500 over his cost which would have been $2700. At that price I would have taken it but not much more. He totally deceived me as to the condition of several things.

May I suggest the next time you decide to purchase or travel to far away places, hire somebody through your local AAA. They have referal systems in place. Give them your credit card and they give you an unbiased assesment of the condition of the car (all aspects) except value! And from someone you can TRUST!! They have a check list or you can supply them with one, if they give you the thumbs up, then go for it. Fifty bucks would have saved you a MAJOR headache not to mention your travel expenses. Don't rush it. We all live and learn. Good luck. Pedro |
