Bookbinders did close. But not after really going downhill for a while there...

I had a similar problem with my e-brake. It turned out that the button was not coming all the way out after being pushed in. I tried some WD-40 in and around the button and it seemed to fix the problem.

Of course now this thread has me paranoid that something else may be wrong with the brake...

I've discovered quite the opposite with imbibing adult beverages; the cloak that masks reality is drawn back to expose it's raw underbelly.

Perceptions that were distorted become clear.

Solutions to life's perturbations emerge.

Sure wish I could remember these gems but my headache is killing me!

Well, I finally gave up and had the local dealer look at my parking brake. It turns out that the pawl was broken. It was missing the part on the bottom that holds it in place.

I ordered a new one, should be here in a few days. Only $3.35...

I have to admit that in almost 40 years of fixing VW's and now 944's I've never seen one that is broken. Scan it and post a picture if you can.

That is what the guy at the dealer said too. I will take pics in a few days when I get the new one.

Well, I finally got around to fixing my parking brake this weekend. It was easy to do, since the seats were out while installing the new carpet. The pawl was rounded, not really broken as the guy at the dealer said.

Adjusting the parking brake is easy. The Haynes manual has a good method for doing it. It took about 20 minutes or so...just as SoCal said....

Texas! Kerrville Folk Festival! Gotta go one of these years. Also have to get over to Dave's in Dallas. A few other places to go and people to see also.

Tis a shame. A real shame. Think Philly would have preserved it as a cultural center!

The pawl was rounded off at the end that connects to the teeth on the brake. It wouldn't engage into the teeth, so I changed it for the new one, and then adjusted the brake to the proper tension.

Lot's better now. Did you get the old pawl back? Scan it an post the image. Want to add it to the broken 'S' chain tensioner pictures.

Being a cheap SOB I would have just ground it sharp to work again!
