major new project!!! converting 84 auto to a 5-speed
I picked up a really nice 84 last week. The body and interior are way above average, only problem, automatic, and not only that, bad dampner. I don't have to tell you that I got a really good deal on the car. The owner had taken it to some "pros" here in town, and got shocked at the price to replace the dampner.
As a lot of you guys know, I part out wrecked 44's so others can live. I'm all about saving the endangered babies. At the current time, I'm parting out a true euro car. The drive line is great, but the body ain't worth even thinking about saving. Major cancer and lots of bent panels. (Do you see where I'm going?) Car also has more new parts than any car that I have had. So I have decided to take the stuff I need off of the euro, and convert the 84 over. If any of you guys have done this, any hidden issues. I have done several clutch jobs, replaced motors, but never convereted one from auto to 5-speed. Oh ya, anyone interested in a good auto tranny?? Still lots of good parts for sale also. |
Well you have a complete donor ...
So go for it.... I am all for saving a seal by clubbing another. Someone on the board did the conversion...... trying to recall who ??? |
Day 2
Got the tranny out. the rest of the exhaust, and got the tourqe tube loose. Got the rear suspension down far enough to get the tube out tomorrow. |
