Just took the dive....

My car is beiing transported to the body shop tomorrow for a full paint job. I love my 944 (1987), and have spent way too much money on the suspension getting it up to autocross standards to let such a fine car look like crap. 180k miles of rock chips and a poorly done previous paint job need to go by by. I spent the last few days removing bumprs, moldings, lights, wipers, seals, mirrors, etc., etc,.. She looks sad now, all full of big vacant holes where all the stuff came out of.

I will post photos when I get it back from the paint shop. I am staying with the original Malven Red, since I have never seen another 944 in that color, and changing colors properly is a pain.

Cool, do you have any pics of Malven Red? I've never seen one that color.

Ohhh, you guys are going to hate me for this reply. The paint work costs me materials only. The guy who does all my paint work is a mechanical idget, so I do all of his mechanical stuff. He has painted 3 sport bikes for me so far, one of which with a ton of artistic airbrushing. He does really good work.

He finally got on my case and told me to strip the car down and get it to him for paint work. Of course there is always a catch. He is delivering to me his Triumph T595 to strip down for powder coating and major engine service...

If you hate me, why should I give you any information?

Malven red is a deep red, non metalic. Almost a blood red color. Very elegant, sexy and sultry compared to the bold of the guards red.

I'll post photos once the project is done.

Jay

Blood red? Would that be arterial bright red, venus dark red, or dried on the floor of the trauma room blackish? Just curious.

More like the deep red mixed evenly with a little grey matter sprayed over the side of a light grey concrete wall after having your head leveled with a 12 ga. using 00 shot. Oh, on a 72 degree day, slight overcast.
