Cool Hello to all, happy to be here...

I'm so happy I can't wipe the smile off my face... Just closed the deal on my first Porsche... 89 S2 cabrio. I have been browsing this forum for about 6 months now and want to thank everyone for all the advice I have gleaned to help me in my search. My baby is getting delivered next week, and I'm praying for some good top down weather (I think anything above freezing will be good enough for the first time . ) I will post pics as soon as I have her all shined up... This will have to do for now...

Ahhh the fun begins! You first Porsche is like your first wife, cept you're more likely to keep the porsche, and the wife costs alot more to maintain. (also, you can't sell the wife on e-bay when you want to up-grade).

Great looking ride. Looks like my twin, I have a '90 with blue interior and top, but your wheels look a bit more fancy !

Check out my imagestation file noted below for more photos.

The S2s are one heck of a rocket ship, very subtle because they're so smooth but quite quick.

Be sure to tend to the timing belt NOW if you are not "proof positive" about the milage on the belt. It sure would be a shame to pop all those valves!!

regards, P

Thanks for all the compliments, I expect to be spending most of the weekend up to my elbows in cleaner, polish, wax, leather conditioner etc... As for mechanical things, I guess I better start learning . Got the car inspected at a Porsche dealership before I bought it, and asked a lot of questions, so I feel pretty confident it should hold up well, and yes, it's the most fun to drive any human being could ask for...

Here's the question you need to ask and be sure of......."how many miles does the timing belt have on it, and specifically when do I need to have it changed"

Keep smiling because it's one of the finest rides ever to hit the pavement.

I think you will find this of great interest.

I didn't recall you were in Germany, so I thought you might be in the US. I looked up the production numbers for the 1989 S2 cabriolet, and guess what??? There were only 16 of them sent to the US, and the entry on the chart for "the rest of the world" says "N/A".

Therefore, I suspect you have an exceedingly rare car. You might want to take real good care of this one!

Actually, ..P, I'm Canadian but have the pleasure of working in Germany for 4 years (wish I could stay, the beer is better, among other things. Thanks for the tip on the car, I will treat her like the beauty she is. And come to think of it, I didn't even know they made 944 cabs till I came here, so if they are rare in the US, they must be nonexistant in Canada... As far as the timing belt goes, thanks for the advice, I will get it in next week to check...
