Post Porsche's Paint

Does anyone know where I can find the Porsche paint codes for all years? If not just 944? Because I'm going to buy some paint from this one place where my friend used to work to paint my car. I would like to get all the codes if possible.

Thank you,

Seb

Thats not completely true. I went to go get some paint mixed and put in arosal cans, but they couldn't find the paint code in there books. So they aren't ALL in there.

They should have a book or fische with every color and shade and the mixing formula.
I expect they didn't want to be bothered.

I was there looking through the book with him. It would have been faster to find the color in the book. Instead he had to use his special color scanner and scan my car for the color to mix. He didn't understand why my color wasn't in his books. I don't either.

Weird, don't understand why they didn't have those formulas. Quite a few are the same as VW or Audi so they should be..
Did you try a paint shop selling Glasurit or some of the other euro paints?

It was PPG. The book had every make and model for every car. But not mine. The only thing is, I have seen lists on the internet displaying the paint codes for years of 944's and it had my paint listed under '82 only, which were never sold over here. My car is an '83. The build date was 5/82 so maybe it was one of the very first. Do you know how to tell which number it was off the production line by looking at the VIN?

5/82 is a really early car.

The vin number last numbers tell you the series number.

Yours should be wpoxxx94xDxxxxxx
D is an 83, C is 82

Its got the D, would that make it more valueable since it has a rare color and is one of the first ones?

Our survey says.......NO

Sorry, if one thing a 944 will never be...
a collectors car is it. No power steering either? Keep it in good condition and just enjoy the drive........... Follow the maintenance schedule and keep it stock(ish)

Didn't think so. Yup, no power steering, don't want it either. Before I keep it in good condition, I have to get it there first. The paint is horrible and the seats need recovering. After college I will put money into, even though I know I will never ever get the money out of it. That just gives me more reason to keep it forever.

No plans on selling the 83. Why? Cause I won't get any $$$ for it. Definatly not what I've put in. I'll just add a 914 and a 911 to my Porsche collection someday.

Same here, expect my 914 will have a big ole V-8 in it. Then comes the 911 and I would like a 356 someday, if I can ever afford one.

I agree with you guys.... I am keeping my 944 ....until....I total it..... and I hope its not any time soon......

I originally thought I would get a 951 for a weekender ...and it just doesn't really make any sense if you have 944 as a daily driver... so after much deliberation I am settling on finding a 911.... the 944 will stay.... it may end up being a track car...or maybe the 911 not sure just yet.....

but either way the 944 is staying where it is.... with me!

uhmm this post is going a little of topic
