Rims & Tires

Anyone know if there are 16" Black Star rims made? I have the original 15s on the car now and would like to upgrade to some 16s with a bit lower profile to keep the overall outside diameter the same and a little wider when I next change the tires. How much should I expect to pay? Any other suggestions on similar wheels / tire combos that you like?

Are you talking about Fuchs or Cookie Cutters? Fuchs are the ones with the smoother spokes, and yes, they come in 16-inch sizes. Cookie Cutters are onl 15 inch. Fuchs can get pretty pricey for 16-inches, because many people want to upgrade to them.

Yea, the ones on there now are the cookie cutters - I was wondering if I should go with the Fuschs or whether there were better 16s out there. . .

How about widths? I think what's on there now are 7s (but I'd have to measure to be sure) but I was thinking maybe 8s rear, 7s front or should I go wider? Will that totally screw up the handling? Could (should) I go 8s all around? Even bigger? 9s?

What kind of tires do you all use? I was thinking Pirellis when the time comes. . .

fuchs widths

I have 16" fuchs on my '86 951. 16 x 7 in the front and 16 x 8 in the rear, they are the optional wheels for that particular year on the 951.

I have the 16x7 and 16x8 Fuchs with Dunlop tires....Car handles great in my opinion, but that is the set up it came with.

I have some 15x7 and 15x8 fuchs on my car, they are great, look amazing. The only problem you will run into is that right now they are very costly to get a hang of, some sets i have seen have sold upwards of $1000, so you might want to try something else, but its all about how much you want to spend.

It's easy to find 6 & 7 x 16 Fuchs. That's what lots of 911s came with, and lots of owners want to upgrade to wider wheels.

Unfortunately, 6" wheels are a step backwards from what the 944 came with. If you want the looks of 16" wheels, and don't track your car, this would be the most economic way to 16's.

My 944 looks best with the 17 x 8 & 9.5s, but is most fun to drive with the 225s on 7" wheels all the way around.

Hey now, that Jimbilly is a new dad, and obviously isn'y getting enough sleep. Either he is not counting correctly, or is seeing double.

Oh wait a minute.... Do parts cars count?

I thought your Fuchs were 16-inches?

Oh, and are you going to the autoX this sunday in louisville? I'm thinking about coming up. I was at the one here in lexington last weekend, quite a few louisville people were there also.
