mirror install
I removed the heating element from the back of mirror glass with hot water and a sharp knife. Installed using loc tite 574. Hope it holds.
|
This is for the 84?
|
The '86. The glass just fell out. Just the glass. So far so good. Defrosts and everything.

got any ideas why part of a element might not be heating anymore? is it a three-part element or one element with three sections? my driver's side element isn't heating on the rightmost third. now you have me wondering if it isn't just simply delaminating
|
There are 3 prongs, I assume 2 hots and a ground, but I don't know that for sure. I think the newer type have two prongs. The element looked like the kind that defrosts the hatch glass, only much thicker. When I recieved my mirror, the glass that contained the heater element was cracked in a few places. I wonder if a crack could not widen and sever the element.

that would be possible. suppose it's time for me to pull it off and have a looksee. any precautions or things to be aware of?

don't drop the glass...
