Clutch job done, no speedometer?

Well my mechanic did the clutch job and was so frusterated with it I got the car back 80% done. Got it drivable today where all I have left is the downpipe. Only problem, my speedo won't read. Any ideas where to cheack what he may have missed?

Thanx...

BTW: The car is so smooth with the new spring centered clutch and new motor mounts...been so anxious to get this car back after 6 months

Why did he quit 80% the way through? Maybe you need a new mechanic.

I think you should stop paying 80% of the way done, right before you hand him the cash. =)
Hmm, what year is yours? pre 85.5, and it's a cable on the front driver's side wheel, post 85.5, and it's an electric sensor on the transmission.
Given that it doesn't work after he had to remove the transmission, I would bet yours is post 85.5, and yep it's an electrical connector on the side of the transmission. Well there are 2, the backup switch and the speed sensor, I just don't know which is which.

well it was sorta a deal we worked out...I'd finish the exhaust part and he'd do the hard stuff. I'll check it out today...are the plugs in plain view?

Plug. One. Over the top of were the left axle goes into the trans. The trans has a sender on it for the speedo.

Please and the year and model of your car to your signature line. Keep the rest of us from guessing wrong.

OH yea...it's an 85.5+ Well I just hooked up the exhaust and found the plug...Speedo works! All this time I've been driving the car with shot mounts and a bad clutch/throw out bearing. It is sooo smooth now. I think this car is a keeper for a long time. GOod to be back
