Flaky Cruise Control
Ok, some times it works, some times it don't? I be driving, set it, works fine, cancel it, go to reset lower, and it wants to go back to the old setting, or... just not come back on at all. Even after a shut off, and restart, no work, But later, or the next day, it works fine, Any Ideas?

I had the same issues driving back from N.M. with my newly acquired 944. The PO had replaced the actuator but said that he had brake lite (the one that comes on when there's a pad sensor problem) issues and that he suspected that it was knocking the cruise control out of engagement. When I rebuilt the brakes, I kept braking the little plastic sensor trying to insert it in the new pads so I just cut all the wires and soldered the ends and encased them in liquid rubber. No sensor issues now. When I engage the system, it works but if I hold down the lever to make it accelerate (I think that's how it's supposed to work), it kicks it off. So, I'm content to get to the speed I need and engage it and it works fine, disengages when it's supposed to.

Mine won't turn off the cruise from braking unless you give the pedal a stiff push and hold it a few seconds, which kills my speed quite a bit. So I've learned to use the reset lever instead to turn it off.
Is this standard on everyone's cruise, with the poor sensitivity with the brake pedal? |
