Sunroof Probs

Well spent most of today swearing at the sunroof ('84 old dash). It was tilting okay with a bit of help. But decided to take the panel out, the rear prongs unlocked okay but now won't lock anymore. Seen all the sunroof posts and technical pages (Clark's Garage very good). But don't quite seem to cover the issue I have. Took everything appart but the cable will not budge (won't move backwards or forwards in its sleeve its just jammed.

Tried adjusting the clutch screw and manual operation - but neither works. The motor turns when you pull away as the sensor feels the panel is in and attempts to lock it but can't.

Biggest pain is that I can't reach the screw that connects the main cable to the drive guide as its not close enough to the end of the rail, this means I can't easily pull the motor/drive unit out the car although I don't think its at fault. Will buy a longer thinner philips head tomorrow to remove the cable from the motor, but any other suggestions what to look at, The white gearbox at the roof looks like a sealed unit is it, anywhere the cable could jam?

Cables strip more than they jam. Mine even broke the collar that holds it into the motor. Then the motor would play out cable without the cable moving the gears in the roof. May be worth looking into.

As to reaching the screw, I found it easier to take the motor off the mounting and rotate it to get at diffucult to see pieces.
