Socal... no index on this one. Just a straight photocopy job.

The minute this post gets seen by a MOD.. it will be gone..... (for legal reasons whether we like it or not) SO GET IT WHILE YOU CAN.

Is posting a indirect link to "illegal" material forbidden in the US? Or is it a matter of forum morale?

Site doesn't want to provoke the wrath of the dreaded PorscheGod "Legalus Teamus".

If you check automotive mythology, this is the P-God that shuts down sites with the wave of a pen.

Note the lack of sites that actually have the word "porsche" in the name.

Copyright laws in the US are more stingent than that of Europe. So Porsche pushes real hard here for just about anything that is not of their creation. Dumb as many of the sites are really of a benifit to Porsche.

This web site could be hit with a lawsuit just because of the link that was posted by a well meaning user.

In some of the copies I've seen there are reveresed pages in the early electrical section. That is white on black rather than black on white. If you got that section take a look at either the 83 or 84 electrical.

Also some missing pages in the 83 section. Not really a problem as the 84 has the same electrical for the pages that are missing.

Interesting that the turbo section actually give some better details on "standard" repairs than the other sections.

Seen both PET version 5 and 6. Both are a pickle to run as it requires that you set your screen to 1200 x 1200 before you start it up. Most of the 944 stuff that's in version 5 is the same for version 6. A few parts number changes.

UconnTim97 03-08-2004 02:27 PM

Crap, I missed it....lol

TCMdocs944 03-08-2004 04:33 PM

Yup 1200x1200 won't run on my laptop.

Have to put it on the big system.....that is IF I had downloaded it. ;)

AFJuvat 03-08-2004 05:19 PM

Actually it requires 1280x1024 to run.

PET 6 includes all models from 356 (1950) - Cayenne (2004)

The posting of such information could very well bring the wrath of Porsche down upon this site. Porsche VIGOROUSLY defends its copyrights. Many of the folks that sell this stuff on Ebay get cease and desist letters (or worse) within a few days of posting it.

Ever notice that you never see Porsche stuff with the crest on Keychains and the like in stores? Porsche will not grant licencing rights to most places. Pelican is able to use "porsche" under the "fair use" rules. Notice you will not see a crest or the Porsche scrip anywhere -except a picture of one that is for sale

The shop I work for used to be called Dan's Porshop - Now called something else due to legal threats from PCNA.

Porsche, the Porsche crest, the Porsche script, Variocam, Varioram, Tiptronic, Carrera, Targa, the outline and bodyshape of Porsche automobiles, 356, 911, 912, 914, 924, 928, 944, 968, Boxster, 993, and 996, Cayenne, and Carrera GT are registered trasdemarks of Dr. Ing. H. C. F. Porsche AG and its affiliate Porsche Cars North America, All rights Reserved.

Do a yahoo / googe search on "copyright infringement."
That's the implications. Fines, prison term...etc. Porsche is actively pursuing copyright infringement issues, even at the lowest level! There was a guy who had a website that had to be renamed due to Porsche's legal action. (clark's garage.) He was just using Porsche (or 944) in his website, and they shut it down.

Now if you SOLD and made money on something copyrighted, that can have some serious ramifications.

IMHO, it's not worth it.

-Z.

Sabyre 03-09-2004 10:34 AM

Yeah I think i have seen the website thing before, I have seen these "CD's" sold a lot of places.

LAW BREAKERS! REBELS!

mmmbeer 03-09-2004 11:11 AM

I cannot speak about US law. But in my country there is a difference between doing the crime and pointing in its direction... You are allowed to have indirect links to any illegal matrial, as long as you do not have anything directly to do with the material.

Is that illegal in the US or are you just afraid to get a letter with the Porsche stamp on it. Remember that there is a diference between what Porsche wants to ban and what is really illegal... Only a court of law can decide that.

Are indirect links to copyrighted material on other servers illegal in the US?
