Best oil and fliuds to use

For my first set of questions I would like to have some opinions of the best oil/oil filter to use as well as what are the best other fluids to use for my car. I'm going to have all of the fluids replaced first thing and want to make sure I'm putting the best in my car. I have an 86 944 n/a.

After I do that, I'm going to have the timing belt/water pump replaced and then probably the plugs/ plug wires. Distrbutor cap and rotor so I'd love to have some opinions about plug wires and distributors too.

Then what should my next step(s) be?

Most people here use Mobil 1 oil, some use Castrol Syn. I believe, 99% of the people use the Mahle oil filters. They are the brand that Porsche uses, except they say Porsche. For tranny fluids, most people use either Swepco or Redline, haven't changed mine yet.

As for plug wires, I got Jacobs for $49.95. I am very satisfied with them. Huge improvement.

Thanks Tim, I appreciate it. Has anybody heard of Royal Purple oil? The local Porsche dealership recommended it and I was wondering if anybody had any experience with it?

I like Wix Filters. I worked for them in the 60s before I went into the Army. Back then they had good quality control, a good work force and have plenty of filtration area. They make a lot of filters for private labels, NAPA, etc. I think some of the Wix fuel & air filters, the ones that are special order & made overseas, are made by Mahle. They apear the same. I just get Mahle on these, such as 924t fuel filter, to keep from aggraving the parts people.

I use Castrol GTX in NA & Mobil1 in turbo.

I use OEM Bosch distributor cap & rotor button.

Just put Taylor spiral core wires on a 944na along with electromotive TEC II. Going to give them a try.
