anyone else have oxidized electrical parts
I had a no start problem the other day that was fixed by spraying some WD-40 onto the female end of were the fuel relay goes. The car would start but only run for about two seconds. I had the relay out to check the fuel pump and the pump produced the correct amount of fuel in the given time. After spraying the car then started and has started every day since
Looking back I have fixed contacts on my power window which were in a sometimes work mode and my winsheild washer with a squirt of WD-40. I can only assume that these contacts have been oxidized. Has anyone else fixed these problems with this solution? I have a 1984 944 or as some have said today an Audi. TJ |

WD40 will doesn't clean oxidization, howeve it is a great conductor. You will have probably filled the gap in the metal contact in that female connector and that caused the relay to make better contact.
Carefully with that stuff and electrics, if you get it between two contacts it will cause a short. BTW, Radio Shack has a great de-oxidizing spray. To fix the contacts in future it's best to squeeze the contacts in that female connector so that they make better contact with the relay when it's pushed in. They open up with age. |

I find it good practice to clean as many of the connectors and grounds as I can every 6 months. I use electrical contact cleaner that I get from a FLAPS to clean the connectors.
