speed sensor on late 85 tranny

OK I was swapping parts from my blown 87 924S tranny to the used 944 tranny. I swapped the mounts and the ****er linkage and I removed the speed sensor from the 944 tranny and put the cap over the hole because my 924S doesnt use this sensor it takes the speed from the left front wheel. Anyway I just want to make sure that I am not hurting anything by removing the sensor. Is there anything I should know?? Is there more to the speed sensor inside the tranny that I should remove?? Thanx

Fast,
I haven't taken a good look at my 924S tranny. Can you mount the speed sensor (is there a cap in the same posit) or do you need an updated tranny case? I'm upgrading the front susp so I won't be able to run my speedo from the left front anymore. If it's plug and play I'd like to buy your used sensor, if not I'm going to have to buy the whole thing I quess.

Yes there is a cap where they speed sensor would go, use a allen socket to take it out, The only thing is I dont know if you can just drop in the speed sensor, First off I dont believe our speedo will run off that sensor, You would have to find a aftermarket on because ours are machincal and the one that uses the speed sensor isnt, Second I dont know if the speed sensor that is on the tranny rides on a gear inside the tranny that needs to be installed or if its already there. But if you can find the answeres to these questions I would gladly sell the sensor to you cheap
