Engine bay

I'm getting pretty happy with tidying up the rest of the car and want to turn attention to under the bonnet. Everythings been done mechanically (bar the oil cooler seals which are top of the agenda) but the engine bays a bit dull its clean but the manifolds a bit dull what has everyone else done on that side of things, anything to brighten things up? Also I've heard of a part that improves throttle response is it worth it (I think its quite a cheap mod)? (Don't worry my next post won't be on NOS or lexus tail lights I'm perfectly happy with the cars performance just want the best for her)

That would be the throttle response cam. I think it's a great upgrade, but keep in mind that all it changes is throttle RESPONSE. As in, your engine is the same old engine, but now your gas pedal is hooked up to it differently. Basically it goes like this:
Stock throttle cam: If you think of the throttle as being a zero to 100 scale, with 0 as idle and 100 as wide open throttle this will be easier to comprehend. Basically, when you put your foot on the gas pedal and press it down for 50% of its travel, the throttle does not reach 50. Rather, the stock cam is made in such a way that the first 50% of gas pedal equates to the first 30% of actual throttle at the engine. Then the next 50% of the pedal gets you the next 70% of the throttle. This way you have a lot of finesse over the low RPM range, but can still access the top end of the throttle.
Throttle Response Cam: Basically, what this upgrade does is make the pedal to throttle a 1:1 ratio. So instead of having 30% throttle at 50% of the pedal, you have 50% of the throttle at 50% of the pedal. It makes the car feel more "responsive." But remember, with the stock throttle cam or the throttle response cam 100% of the pedal is 100% throttle either way...you still have the same engine, you're just connected to it a bit differently. Make sense?

Cam cover looks pretty good either painted or polished.

The high heat header paint I used lasted all of 3 weeks. Use good quality of you do that.

When you paint aluminum, it helps if you clean it with something like CRC's Brakleen, and then heat it (you'll see moisture come to the surface and evaporate, if you use a propane torch, with the parts off the car, of course). Prep is everything!

I just installed the throttle response cam 2 weeks ago. It is well worth the $25. The car feels a lot less sluggish. Not to mention it can be installed in 10 minutes.
