New Relay, no start need help.

OK guys i got the new relay and put it in. When i tried to start it the battery was dead. So obviously it wouldnt start. I charged the battery to get about 10 or so good cranks in before it died again. The car didnt start. The fuel system was depressurized, so would this be the problem, or is it something else all together.

If i remeber correctly, the fuel pump only pressureizes the system when the engine cranks, so should i charge the battery to full with a battery charger and try again?

Hey come on guys help this sucks

Are you charging from a charger or jump starting from another vehicle?

As you have an 86 with the better fuse/relay block you could have just jumped between the proper contacts on the plug for the DME relay and found out if the relay was bad. Still better to have a known good as a spare.

Jump 30 to 87b and see if the fuel pump runs. If you also jump 30 to 87 you might be able to start the car. If not it's not the DME relay.

Could be the reference and speed sensors. No signal to the DME no starting the car.

Finally! SOCAL comes to help me. I tried the jumper, i heard the fuel pump running, I dunno if you read my post before this, but this happened after the car started and died a few times after i bounced off the rev limiter.

How can i check refrence and speed sensors?

First see if they have the correct resistance. About 2k ohms from the center contact to one of the other pins. One should be open, no resistance as this is the shield.

If they do then you can crank the car with an analog (meter) volt meter attached to the same pins you measure for resistance. Should see the needle jump on the front one and give you about 1.5 volts on the rear one.

Rev limiter. Have a chip in the DME? Get a stock DME and check it.

I was in neutral when i bounced off the tach. is there a rev limiter in neutral, and the chip in the DME is stock too.

Thanks Socal ill check the voltages tomorrow, i saw some stuff on clarks garage about it too

Ps.. I checked the timing belt and it was just dandy! No dead kittens under my hood.
