Crate Engines...

Hey, someone on pelican replied on one thread saying that we could get crate engines somewhere..

I need to know where i can find 2:
1) 968 3.0 4 Cyl
2) 944 Turbo 2.5 or Turbo S..doesnt matter.

Thanks :P

Mmmmm,

Was it a rebuilt crate?

"Engine builders supply" does that kind of think methinks.

Vertex does that with transmissions but requires a core.

For "crate" engines, call your local offical Porsche dealer.

I believe it was AFJuvat that mentioned crate engines available from Porsche at an astounding cost...:D

vertex does rebuilts from $2900.

I think an NA one was only $5000 ... I remember AF telling me some prices. SOme were a little over the top.....

I guess the factory still has some 944 engines to sell. Go figure...

There is a 2.5 '87 turbo on ebay (seems pretty complete-pictures include front end accesories and the bellhousing) for $2000.

Did you hurt your engine already?
Your most economical approach is Ebay, I think

If you're looking for rebuilt, 944online sells them as well. They do require a core.

Ebay is nice, but it's rare you get a new one for a good price.
