Testing (44s igntion coil
Hi,
I have a 1987 944S. I pulled the coil to check the resisitance according to my Haynes manual. The primary resistance between 1 and 15 is .6 ohms (That is OK). I removed the rubber plug that covers lead 4 and checked the resistance between 1 & 4 and I get nothing. If I check between 1 and the center output of the coil (where it goes to the distributor) I get 5.6K ohms which is what I should get between 1 and 4. My question is simple. Is lead 4 the same as the output from the coil? I know I can go pick up another coil fairly cheap but I want to know if this one is really bad or what? Thanks! |

944S also has an ignition modual. A Porche compacitance discharge unit. If you are having problems with your spark then this has to be checked too.
