I'd take that for mine, and I don't really want to sell it!
I do have only 115K on mine, but that is because it sat for almost ten years (and it looked like it had been sitting for that long).
Guy must have been watching the Speed Channel last week with the Barret and Jackson auctions.
For the sake of ROI I hope someone buys it for that amount.

In his defense, he is offering a money back guarantee (less listing costs) if the buyer doesn't like it when he gets it. Too bad you could buy 2 for that price, and if you don't like one you could sell it.

Wow, mine is in better shape then that one, and only 61,000 miles. Wonder what I could get for mine?.....lol

Notice there are 2 different license plates on the car, front end is out of shape, and when does oil pressure equate to a "tight" engine?.......

Oh lord, this guy is NUTS. That car was on eBay in December being sold by the mechanic he mentioned. I corresponded with the previous owner, who was hoping to get $5500 for it at the time. He put it up twice with a reserve of $5500 and then $5000 and the car didn't meet the reserve either time. I e-mailed him offering $4500 and after about 3 weeks he e-mailed me back to accept; unfortunately, I'd bought another Guards Red '83 by then for two grand, no where near as nice and well-maintained as this one. He put it on eBay one more time and it sold to this guy's dad for $4500 in early January. Last week, he put it up on eBay with a $6250 starting bid and a reserve! Getting no bids, he dropped the reserve option and jacked up the starting price to this amount. He's hoping to double his money on the car.

Tim, depends on the market. My goal is to own all of the Porsche models sold in the US in 1983, each in Guards Red with a black interior and 5-speed tranmission. I'd have paid over 5 grand for yours without batting an eye, had it been available - it's a gorgeous specimen that exactly meets my requirements. That the original paint?

I was kidding about selling mine...lol

That is the original paint, except the front was repainted to cover up stone chips, etc. The wheels were refinished at the same time.

The car has the rare" passenger side mounted fire extiguisher" option, which adds a few Thousand $$, to the value of the car.

The NASCAR front plate tells the whole story.

I ran a Carfax on it back in December before this guy got it - it came back clean, but I didn't save it. The mechanic that had it before was anal about maintenance, and the second owner. The new owner, Porsche expert that he is, doesn't mention that the car's got a limited slip, upgraded shocks (I think Bilsteins) was lowered .5" and corner-balanced. The belts were done at about 90k miles as well.
