1984 motor into 1983.....easy swap?

I have a 1983 NA 944 that the motor needs gone through, but have a perfectly running 1984 NA motor that I just pulled from a great running parts car. Belts good, not leaking anything, ...am trying to get on the road here so Id like to swap in the 84 motor in my 83 ........What I need to know is if theres any differences between the 2 that need to be addressed to make this work, like electronics or whatever you guys can think of before I just do it & then get pissed from it not being right the 1st time. Thanks to all who help me out.

Think just the fuel rail. Use the one off of the 83.

I would change the belts. I never trust old belts.

When was the last time you changed your timing and balance belts and/or cam chain and tensioner?

What SoCal said, I remember the 84+ fuel rail was longer but what did it interfere with?
