OT: last weekend (picture)

So we were headed to the parts store last saturday to pick up a e-manage (we were
turbocharging a Miata) This happend on the way back. The insurance adjuster said the lady that rearended us was travling at or above 50mph. She was in an Explorer. I was in the back passenger side seat. My cell phone came out of my right pocket and somehow ended up under the gas pedal. We were shoved into the car in front of us and the crown vic we were in was totaled. The glass peices hit the back of my head so hard that there were very small particles imbedded in my head for 2 days. Were all still pretty sore. We couldn't turbo the Miata that weekend

So does anybody have a nice car for $3,000.00 as a replacement. Were looking at a Audi 200 turbo Sedan (5 spd.) We couldn't find a decent 944.

Being in a crown vic, you have a very fire-hazardous car there. Something about the gas-tank rupturing and bursting into flames a bit too easily.

Glad to hear you're okay now. With an exploder coming at you that fast, most likely you should be dead, but aren't. I'm trying to avoid using the term "lucky"... if you were lucky it would have been someone else.

Maybe i shouldn't have been so sarcastic with my door-opening comment mentioned earlier...

Glad to hear no one was seriously injured.

The concern for the fuel tank is being rear ended at high speeds in excess of 100mph, there is a special program for law enforcement, veh to install spring and tank shilds. ..you can get the upgrade kit to in stall on any crown vic. for purchace at any Ford dealer.

The steel bumper (which tore like paper) came within about 1/4 of an inch of the tank.

That lady on the side of the road was my friend's mom - she came to pick us up. (The are from Michigan, they always gesture like that for some reason)

Oh man, thankfully you made it out without serious injusry, that crash looks nasty. As for the Audi 200, they are great cars and can be made to be pretty quick. If you want something more refined, albeit a lot slower, you may want to look at a '92-'93 Audi 100, with the updated body. An older Ford Taurus SHO would also fit into your price range, although I'm not too familiar with those cars. But the 200 is a very good choice overall, plus you'll get the all-weather drivability of Quattro.
