Are automatic starters different that manual?

I need to know if an automatic 1986 N/A starter will work for my 1985.5 944 turbo? Please help.

I really need to know if there is a difference between any of the starters used on the 944, for all the years, I have a 1985.5 turbo and have a guy who wants to sell me one from an 86, but then the part number checks out as a pre-1985 starter. Please help guys/girls.

Tweeks Catalog
944 1983-84 (409-321)
944, Turbo 1985 on (409-319)

by the way they also show the (409-319) for the 924"S" maybe that is why you see it as pre 85

Too bad someone didn't have a pic of both for you to compare.

Thanks

Thank you very much, I ordered the part and hopefully I should get it soon, it is from an automatic but since there are no different part numbers for manual or auto I'm guessing it will fit on my manual. Thanks again.
