Correct Temperature?

Hi. I suspect my temperage guage is not working properly and I want to hook up an aftermarket guage. Can anyone tell me in degrees, what the normal operating temperature of the 1987 944/NA is. And what temperatures do the marks on the original guage correspond to?
Thanks alot

OK. thanks thats a good reference to have. Do you know what is a good range for the car to be running at?

FR I am guessing that those marks are celcius?

TCMdocs944 04-29-2004 07:44 AM

Yup, celcius/centegrade

100 = boiling = 212

Thermostat opens at 180

100 C = boiling at regular atmospheric pressure - ie NOT in the cooling systems of watercooled cars where boiling is quite a few degrees higher.

F = 1.8*C+32

C=(F-32)/1.8

F=C @ -40
