Has anyone ever put a turbo head on a N/A
Has anyone ever installed a 951 head on a N/A engine. If so what results did you get. Is it possible to do????

Man is always trying to exchange heads, usually on his favorite girlfriends. In either case, car or girls, it's a better fantasy than reality...

Yea, you will decrease comp. ratio if you put on a head from a turbo. Also, i dont think it bolts up to an N/A manifold and so on.
As usual it is not financially feasable, unless you have a donor head, and even then doesnt make much sense

Actually a turbo head bolts right in...........
I wouldnt consider it a performance mod unless you are planning on adding a little forced induction. Sodium filled valves, ceramic coated exhaust ports, stronger springs etc..... You are better of taking an NA head and beefing it up if you are planning on making that NA rev a little higher....

Ports/valves should not be significantly different in size or shape. I do not THINK that the combustion chamber shape is any different in the head either. Therefore I would think not.
Also, the double valve springs MAY be a little stiffer, which would require more power for the valvetrain to be driven. Ahmet

So it seems the head itself is no different.
How about the camshaft?

I don't think the camshaft is different. In the shop manuals it shows the degress of timing to be the same on the opening and closing of the valves. I thought that a 951 head would have a better flow rate. That was the reason we were thinking of putting on the engine. The motor that we are thinking of putting it on is a true euro with 10.5 compression and slightly shaved head. We would also be using the 951 intake if we had to.

never hurts to try it out, You might need a adjustable cam gear to make up for the timming lost when the head was shaved

I have all of the parts, left over from parting out a 951, just don't know if it will make much difference. The car up to 143 at Rennsport in Daytona (not me driving!!!!). We are trying to figure some way to get more into the motor.

Raise the comp, Change the cam, Port and Polish, Hone the intake manifold out, Lighten the lower rotating assembley and balance, Light weight flywheel, Bigger throttle body, MAF kit. That should get you started to somthing nice.

How much did the Jacobs ingition help your car. As far as compression, like I said before, this is a true euro motor with the higher compresssion already and a shaved head. I don't think we can bump the compression anymore. Already have a burch header and with the pipe. Running a cherry bomb for a muffler. The car is run in SCCA and some PCA events. Can't do some of the mods that you suggested.

The head IS different, though I don't know just how different it is. Cam is the same as some NAs (and very little different than others).
PS: Jacobs ignition helped with throttle response on my NA, but didn't really feel like it made more power. Ahmet
