I replaced the turbocharger thermostat and the O-ring but it still leaks, was I supposed to put something on the O-ring, like a special gasket sealer or something? Well, anyway that's not the biggest problem, the bigger leak is coming from under the belt cover, there is really tiny tiny split with some of the plastic gone at the bottom of the cover, its about an inch long, that's where there is a lot of coolant gushing out, I thought this was weird since there is no coolant that's supposed to be in there, I also see a bit of a coolant leak coming from a different place but I have no idea how to describe it, and it's hard to draw a diagram of it, I need a digital camera, I tried taking the timing belt cover off and it won't because some of the nuts that hold the screw have stripped the plastic housing that they are in, how am I supposed to get these out? I am just thinking of spending 250 dollars to get a dolly and a trailer so I can move back to NYC and then have it taken to a Porsche dealer, I want to do the work but I don't know if I should be messing with stuff like this. Please help out. Thanks

Better get this one done at a Porsche mechanic who is familiar with the car. It sounds relatively easy to fix, however, the mechanic should be familiar with the 944 in order to know exactly what to order, replace, tighten up, and fix.

Yikes.
If you are not comfortable with being able to get around the belt cover thing you probably shouldn't mess with whats behind it. That said. It does sound as if your problems may go a bit deeper. Cover must be removed by cutting selectively. Then you will probably need to remove the belts since it seems as though you may have a waterpump problem. This stuff is not beyond the home mechanic but it isn't exactly easy stuff either. Check out www.clarks-garage.com to see if you really feel like you can tackle this job. Depending on what the service history is, you may be better off just getting the pump, belts, and front oil seals done all at the same time. Probably $500-$1000. Don't assume the dealer is the best place to get this work done. It is definately not the best place where I am.
