Just installed new tires...
...So that's how a 944 is supposed to drive!
Got Dunlop Sport 5000 225/60/15ZR to replace the Pirelli P6 VRs that I had on there for over 4 years. The steering problem that I thought I had? Yeah, that was the tires. Tramlining? Gone. Rough ride? Gone. Really noticing my suspension upgrades now? Uh, YEAH. The steering feel has improved 100%, the handling has improved, I think the braking even feels better. Best upgrade i've ever done! I can't believe I waited this long.

Congrats ....
I just discovered I may need new ones today. Usually turning left in center lane, I can whip it sharp. Well, about an hour ago, I found out what drifting is all about. I just kept on the gas and it eventually came around. Note : Noone was around me So they seem to either be just old or the minimal tread has lost it's grip. So, It's on the top of the list CJFusco, hows it feel to punch it at a light and not have them just spin.

Yeah I know what you mean. I'm still braking in the new clutch and front brakes, but the whole car is just rock steady. I can even feel the changes in the turning radius with small throttle and brake corrections. In fact I had the camber way too high (neg) giving visible wear to the inside edges so I had to tone it down, but maybe for an AX?

the steering feel with the old tires was absolutely terrible; i was beginning to fear that something was seriously wrong with my car... as a turn progressed, the steering would go from light, to heavy, to very heavy, back to featherweight... it was very disconcerting and difficult to hold a steady line. I figured that i needed new tires anyways, so might as well do that before dumping money into a new steering rack, etc... lo and behold, the car steers perfectly now.

I tried to tell you CJ, and you listened! Same tire, size, rating here. Sticks pretty good aye? Pretty soon you'll get the bug to make it even better..... I'm rebuilding my front end, all of it minus struts, and can't wait to feel the results.
