screeching noise
recently i've noticed that when i first start up my 944 and start driving (ie. engine is fairly cold) i get a loud screeching noise when i let out the clutch and give it some gas, even in neutral. it goes away REALLY quickly, within a minute of normal driving, and there's no tactile feedback at all and no noticeable loss in power. the only clue i have is that it goes away when the clutch is in. the other thing is that i've been driving it for about a month now and i only noticed it last week. any ideas?

Does it only occur with use of the clutch or will it make the noise in neutral with your foot off the clutch? I'm wondering if the clutch is coincidental.

One of your accesories could be screeching under load..... check the 2 belts first...

Throw out bearing.

it DOES make the noise in neutral with my foot off the clutch...any idea why it goes away after a minute?
|
Does it come back if you go out and drive it for awhile? Or does it just go away?
|
so far it's just gone away..i haven't driven for more than 30-40 minutes at a time yet though...SoCal - are you saying i should grease the throw out bearing?
