Emissions update !!!

well, I'm sure you guys are tired of hearing from me about this, but ...

I just had it diagnosed.@ $120 inpect fee
1. AFM (brando's) out of spec..
2. Wiring from AFM to DME bad.
3. Valve cleaning ( yeah right !! )

So I,m having them fix wiring and " Dial in " the AFM on the gas analyser. $120.00 ( in addition to the other $120)
I'm having them do the original AFM, so I can give Brando his back.

In the end, I'll have a smog pass.

Who did the testing? Are they the same ones doing the fixing?

Interesting. Actually checked the system at the DME plug the way you are supposed to.

I'm sure #2 had a lot to do with problems.

How did my old K&N cone work for you? Nice and loud?

naw, I took that off cuz it was moving around and actually came off.

I marked the AFM #1 on the spring. If the NEW setting doesn't give me the same response, I'll put it back maybe. AFM #2 seemed way sluggish. My right foot was not happy.

Yeah, as far as the AFM wiring, thats probably the main failure.

Now that I'll be getting some good paychecks ( any paycheck for that matter ) I'll do the belts, clutch etc.....

But I guess I'll have to buy another 944 to drive while 944 #1 is getting worked on ( the things we have to do )

Thanks for everyones help on this.

Don

I'm still waiting to hear back from the shop

Well, I have a passed vehicle WHOO HOO !!!!!!!

but I just paid $240 for the guy to reconnect my O2 sensor & adj IDLE mixture.
Big difference between repairing AFM wiring and AFM up to spec AND reconnect wire and NOT adjust AFM.
I'm rekieved to have it done, but I'm pissed cuz, I wasn't sure of the connection on the O2 sensor, and the Idle mixture has nothing to do with emissions at 15 & 25 mph.

Plus the $60 smog fee

Gonna call them tomorrow. No wonder the guy had a smirk on his face, he knew what was not making contact when they tested it.

and

Oh, brando, he adjusted your afm, so I gotta give ya some $$.
