o2 Sensor

My 83 944 was powerless when cold and when it would warm up and while accelerating, I'd get a nasty odor.
The shop put on a new o2 sensor and it ran great with little or no odor. That was about two weeks ago. Just yesterday, it's started over again.
Could this be a faulty new o2 sensor or could there be another component that is trashing the sensor prematurely?
Thanks, Paul

I've been through something similar w/ my current Scirocco. In my case the 'brain is bad', and it causes the car to run so rich that it fouls the sensor. Brains do 'go bad', maybe that's it? If it's a single wire o2 sensor, try running it w/out the o2 sensor, I swear my Vw's run perfect w/ out one. I hate the idea of sticking sensor after sensor in there when it could be something else (I just recently bought 2 for the vw and gave up on the system again).

Sounds like o2 sensor may be off track a little.

To get all the info the DME needs there are many things that must be right. You might want to investigate a vacuum leak.

esp if your idle is high and or you are experiencing idle surges.
