Timing Belt Change

I just recieved a quote of $600 to replace the timing belt and balance shaft belt. They also suggest changing out the water pump at the same time, for another $120. I have no idea what this should cost for a Porsche (1984 944). Does this sound reasonable? Is there anything I should do in addition at this time? Anything I should watch out for?

Appreciate your help!

Sounds about right. Ask them if the belts should be retensioned and if so when.

When was the last time you changed your timing and balance belts and/or cam chain and tensioner?

based on experiend with oil seals, have the garage replace all oil seals, it might cost an extra 25 bucks. but it may save aggravation down the road

Re: Timing Belt Change

I paid $900 to have my belts replaced and then another $175 to have them re-tensioned. I like your price better. Mine was at a Porsche dealer in Illinois.
