Pics on my head gasket, Oil cooler, and Header Fix, plus some questions
Well as some of you know I am still in the middle of replacing my head gasket and of course along the way I am replacing the oil cooler seals, fixing the cracked headers, and replacing everything else that goes wrong along the way
![]() I am getting really close to reassembly but I ran into a couple of problems: 1. Look closely at the oil cooler, there are areas of corrosion along the sealing surface, i'm not sure what to do, my friend who is a mechanic and machinist told me that I should just put a little bit of the red or blue gasket in a tube along the surface and then still install the normal gasket, what do you guys think? 2. On the oil cooler, what is the large allen head unleash? A valve, what does it do? should I take it apart? Okay those are the main question for now, don't forget to look at the head all shined up, it only cost $100. Check out the before and afters of the cylinders too.

Nice.
Looks like it is all being done properly. Use the gasket stuff on the oil cooler....should be more than fine. Your gasket wasn't all that bad. All fresh and shiny now though.

So far so good...
1. I hope they didnt shave too much off the head.... otherwise looks nice and shiny. ![]() 2. The loctite trick is fine. 3. The large allen I believe was an access point....but I think it was only used during factory assembly. I have never opened it....

Thanks for your replies. Good, I will go ahead with the gasket and I won't touch the large Allen head.
Yeah, I hope they didn't take too much off of the head either, it seemed like a pretty good shop and it has been around forever, so I can only hope ![]() I will post more pictures soon.
