My clock stopped!
This really p'd me off...... I removed my digital clock to put in a new bulb.....I was so careful removing all the parts etc etc etc.... I put the bulb in.. and the it worked perfectly..... unfortunately, the clock stopped showing the time.... now what was supposed to be quick and cheap fix, and turned out to be and expensive item on my 'To do List'.
I haven't replaced it yet and I was wondering if its fixable, I assume its the transister or one of the diodes that popped.. they seem to be the weakest....... and no, I didn't, disconnect the battery or fuse before working.... slaps slaps and more slaps..... Any circuit diagrams out there? ![]()

is it blank ?
changing the bulb wont break anything, sounds like a loose connection with the clock out, make sure everything is pressed in and the wires when wiggled dont loose contact HTH

I've check the wires, the contacts, pretty much everything.... out of desperation, I even totally dismantled the clock..... I have a clock on the CD loader, but I hate little bits not quite right

You said you checked everything, how about the fuse? When I took my clock out to change the bulb, the fuse blew for some reason.

It seems I'll just have to live with it until my warchest is big enough to replace it........after I've tried to hack it back to working order not!
I figure I'll ask around the local techies here.. maybe one of them has some bright ideas......there are only about 6 components that make up the clock..... how difficualt can it be ![]() thanks guys....

I've seen on Ebay, I think, a fuel pressure meter that looks just like your digital clock. It reminds me of the old school spectrum analysers on old stereos. Anyway, I kinda think they're a little on the cheesy side, but would probably look better than black tape. I've changed my bulb a couple of times without any problem. I even tried to get different color leds to work in it, but the colored ones aren't bright enuff to shine thru.

For the guys who don't get up so early in the morning......
The S2 has a digital clock... ![]() Changing the bulb is easy.. just don't break the dash cover in the process. I didn't do that ![]() Breaking the clock while fitting a bulb... well... yeah it was pretty neaderthalish of me.... way to complacent about fixing stuff I guess. I suppose it took a power spike while reconnecting the power and popped one of the components.. So techincally, my clock stopped, but actually it went blank ![]() And lastley........ what are the odds of the clock breaking at proximately 9:44? ![]()

You can go to this site is in french, but if you search for it via google, you can translate it to english.... the pictures are pretty good, but it has a few errors. Don't forget the screws at the air con plate...., loosen them to get the rest fo the front place off. Theres is another DIY , but I can't remember it is.... Try Pelicans Tech pages.

The clock has a light? I've been driving my car for almost 10 years and my clock was never illuminated.
But you know what's strange....one day a couple of months ago the clock started slowing down. It still works but it's slow. Any idea? Could it be dirty or corroded connections? |
