whinning tranny now that seats are gone ???

well, the back seats are out as well as the passenger seat.

Should I be hearing a " Hissing " sound from the tranny ??

I know its the gears making the noise , but it sounds like a hissing. The sound is different on takeup and backlash.

Just curious if this is normal.

Don,

WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING TO YOUR CAR?

I keep trying to figure out from your posts what kind of projects are current and you have me stumped.

What is your project all about.

As stated, you are removing insulation material and hearing the tranny for what it really sounds like.

No worries

Just tell everyone you have the supercharged transaxle option.

Dynamat or Brownbead sound deadener would help as well.

Dynamat is heavy, adding it in can hurt performance. I'd live with the noise.

when I had all seats out and no parts or tools in there, it was definately quicker.

Its hard to imagine that that little bit of weight makes that much difference.

I'm going to put the rear top portion back on. I had some stuff fly forward from the trunk at a rather fast speed upon braking.

That will also allow me to mount one of those speakerboxes that someone here made.

I've decided that the kalahari 944 will always be my beater / work car, so it will be more of function and performance than looks. The Future 944, 951, S2, 968 etc... will be the babies.
