Red warning light on dash coming on?

I was out driving around today and noticed something I've never seen before. While I was driving the red warning light with the "!" came on momentairly, three times. Once while I was in 2nd gear at 2200RPM, once in thrid at 3KRPM, and again in 2nd at about 2200RPM. What the heck does this mean? It just started doing it..it seems random as I can't duplicate it intentionally. It goes on for just a second and goes off, or it blinks.

Any ideas?

Could be oil pressure, brakes , brake fluid level, different # of things. check your other guages too when it comes on

Look in the owners' manual.

Seems like that might be a shift indicator. I know that's a low RPM, but maybe unloaded, it comes on.

The owners manual states that the ! will come on when any other dash guage, or brake fluid level goes out of spec.

My number 1 thing to check is brake fluid level.

Had the same problem recently, the same light was blinking on a lot. Then noticed the oil pressure gauge was pinned at max... Mechanic replaced the oil pressure sending unit, and the light has not come on since. Sounds like the gauge issue might be the answer...

Well, it was the brake fluid. Oil pressure and everything else was fine, so when I took it into work to change my tranny fluid I checked everything else and my brake fluid is at the min. line. I guess that's why I wrote down "bleed brakes" on my "944 To Do List".

I got the light to stay on for a good 3 or 4 seconds (before it was a really quick flash) and a light that also said "brake fluid" came on and it kinda hit me..brake fluid.

Are you sure it isn't the blinker fluid? Might as well check it while you're in there...

Isn't that a synthetic? If so, I'll have to go pick some up.

Better safe than sorry...
