Power Steering Pump and Warning Light

Ok, here is the deal... when I'm in my drive way and I turn the wheel, the power steering pump grinds... I've checked the fluid levels and they are ok. And when I'm moving, as long as it's faster than a slow walk... there is no noise at all...
If anyone has any clues, help me out here... thanks

Second... whenever I come to a red light and I press in on the clutch, my rpms drop, as does my oil pressure, and we are talking to 1 or lower... and my warning light comes on... I've got oil in it (I check 2-3 times a week)...
Any clues here help me out... thanks again

Just in case it's a 85.5 944 with about 130000 on it...

1. POWER STEERING: Could be a loose belt, check tension. Air in the fluid from running it low, White Pinkish foam. weak or worn pump.

2. "!" light. Is comming on because oil pressure is dropping below preset level. What weight oil are you running on a 130k mile car. Replace the pressure sensor on the oil cooler first, diphram can weaken over time. otherwise may be due to internal wear and excess clearences.

Maybe the idle speed is too low. If the engine has recently been worked on you might want to check the crank pulley bolt, if it's loose the oil pump will not work properly.

Thanks for the tips, I'll give it a look and give an update.
