quick fan question

a while back my 924 turbo over heated after a short drive i was just tinkering around with it and with the key off , i pulled the leads off the temp switch at the radiator and jumped them and only the left fan came on . Is the way it is supposed to be or should both come on.

Thanks,
Gary

Both fans run with the AC on. Think the AC relay over rides the temp switch and thus the other relay much like the early 944's.

for some strange reason both fans on my car run with out the AC on.

Thanks,

So one fan running after I shut the car off isn't enough to cool off the car without it overheating ?

Thats what happened last week. I started it up and let it run for awhile while I took some "before" pics and then drove it to the car wash 4 blocks away. Left it running while I hosed it off, drove 4 blocks home and shut it off. A few minutes later there is steam from under the hood and antifreeze all over the garage floor.

Thanks again,
Gary

ok , tested the fans and they worked . hooked back up to the thermo switch, took for a short drive , nothing hard. Came back and let it idle for a minute while i got out to see if the fans would come on . They didn't and it overheated .

Thermo switch replacing time ?

I have only had it for a month and the PO said he did not have this problem. But he did replace the thermostat some time back and a couple of hoses.

Thanks,

Gary
