i'm beginning to get spooked now, after reading a post about the headlight assembly. i went to work this morning about 5.05am, and went to switch on my headlamps, and nothing! well, the lights were on, but the motor did not turn! anyhoo, got home and manually moved them thru a rotation, and no tight spots! sprayed wd 40 onto the relay, and tried again. ha ha ha, whats this, now the headlamps pop up, and then go down all the time in a continuous fashion! ye gods, whats next? well, i'll tell you, now the brake fluid indicater light is lit all the time? it would not be so bad if i did not mind working on electrical items.
in my first year of ownership, apart from replacing the alternator, and regular maintenance, i had no issues, and wondered why everyone was posting about various jobs on these cars! well, now i know!!
lately, i seem to go from one repair, straight into the next.
ah well, the joys of ownership.
mind you, only yesterday i was stopped at the lights, and a very nice blond lady, driving a mercedes, made a nice comment about my car, and was astounded when i said it was an "84". that makes it all worthwhile.

There should be a rubber boot over the relay on the headlight motor. It's to keep the water and other crud out of it.

hi socal. yes, the rubber boot is still in place. i think its just old age {not me, the boot!!} i will replace the relay, and go from there.

winking headlights is usually the relay or the switch - start with the relay
