stock exhaust headers..engine comp. so HOT!!!
Has anyone wrapped their stock exhaust headers with the firebraid header insulation tape. Enigine compartment is so HOT, especially here in AZ--100 + degrees during the day. Pro's/Con's??. www.longacreracing.com (insulation products). My mechanic uses the firebraid sleeving on fuel lines that go over the exhaust to protect them from the heat..they look good and work great .

Wrap them. Will not hurt. The factory steel tube headers are easier to wrap. Could drive around with the hood off. I would polish the cam cover and the intake if you do.

Make sure you do not have any oil leaks near the exhaust side. The braided tape will not burn, but if it collects enough oil...the oil will.
Don't ask my son how he knows this... JM ![]() |

Well the engine compartment does get a bit warm, but is yours getting SO hot that you feel the heat, say in the bin under the radio? Or radiating from the footwells? If so, you could have a problem, like too lean running condition.
