Too bad that's not in Southern California.

Brando 06-22-2004 10:47 PM

I think us So Cal people should all chip in for a storage lot with a shack on it..
Cheap, and we can store and work on projects.

I wish I still rented this house in Chino Hills.. had a 2 car garage...

You laugh...

I have an uncle who buys cars for like $200. He drives them until they die..they just leaves them on the side of the road and buys another. He goes through about 3 a year.

ronin 06-23-2004 10:01 AM

hmmm, 600 a year for transportation. not bad. would seem a little inconvenient when they break down though. but since it only happens thrice a year...

mambodave 06-23-2004 10:57 AM

The current one hes driving is an old Gremlin. Its purple trimed in rust with white racing stripes. Funny as hell.

ronin 06-23-2004 10:58 AM

lol. in some perverse sort of way, I'd actually like to see that

mambodave 06-23-2004 11:00 AM

Ill see if i can get him to send me a pic...(hes hind of stuck in th 70's, so chances are slim. But Ill ask.

ronin 06-23-2004 11:02 AM

lmao. looking forward to it

Brando 06-23-2004 12:49 PM

hahaha... same as ronin...

I can imagine... buy the car, never register... ditch it when it dies?

mambodave 06-23-2004 01:11 PM

yep...thats what he does. he puts one of those cardboard signs in the window:

"Tag Applied For"

Its truely the funniest thing I have ever seen.
Lets see If I can remember a few of them, old AMC ,Dodge Dart (pea green 4 door, which he made a convertiblbe with a chainsaw in the summer, no ac you know), a Caddilac Coupe Deville (no front grill or bumper), And now the gremlin. Thoses are the only ones i can remember so far.

I was following him in the dart one time. Right before it died, it was squirting oil out the back like a James Bond Car.

The family always buys him duct tape for christmas. If he cant fix it with duct tape, he ditches it.

ronin 06-23-2004 01:42 PM

man, I'd hate to see what his house looks like :D

mambodave 06-23-2004 02:00 PM

not bad actually...Hes just a bit of a hippie.

He grows his own food, is a vegatarian...That kind of thing. I dont think hed drive unless he had too. Hes very artsy, a photographer.

ronin 06-23-2004 02:41 PM

ah yes, the artsy type. uses cars only as a means to get from point a to b

mambodave 06-23-2004 02:45 PM

kind of reminds me of Chong!

(cheech & Chong)

ronin 06-23-2004 02:49 PM

Dave's not here...

bryanthompson 06-23-2004 04:10 PM

So, since the cars aren't registered, they aren't insured right? That sounds pretty irresponsible, even though it's hilarious that he just leaves them where they die.

mambodave 06-23-2004 04:23 PM

In south carolina you dont have to carry insurance if you pay the state $500 per year and you if you have a good driving record.
