thermostat question

if I take the thermostat out is it stamped or marked in some way that I will be able to tell if it is the stock one or a cooler one?

what would happen if the thermostat turned out to be cooler than stock and the thermo switch was stock?

I ask because I'm pretty sure i need to replace the thermo switch (based on a couple of other questions I;ve asked here ) and i talked to the PO and he "Thinks" he put in a cooler thermostat but doesn't remember for sure .

Thanks,
Gary

mine actually ran hot with a low temp stat and a stock thermo switch.
It ran above the 3rd mark.

I had to put in a low temp switch to match ths stat.
Now it runs below teh half way mark.

Try it and see though. mabey youll get lucky.

IMO if you have out the old thermostat. Just put in a new one.

I should be stamped. You may have to really look for it (as in, on the inside somewhere)

I am an advocate for matching the thermoswitch and the thermostat. It caused me and the PO all kinds of headaches until I finally replaced both with the cooler temp.

Now, two things....

One ----- I AM in florida - 60% or better humidity ALL YEAR LONG + heat.

Two ------ Sometimes lower temp units are put in to cover up other cooling issues.
