Talking Moonroof

Yes,itīs a bit stupid poll,but....

Do you often drive without the moonroof?? Or do you only lift it?

You think is really usefull to remove it?

I say this because of the experience of driving above 40-50 mph,and hearing terrible noises, like you are hearing in the middle of 10 destroyers firing at each other...Terrible...i was tempted to weld the roof...and never let it move.

Thanks for hearing me!

If the weather is good, I'm not driving on the highway and I'll be driving for a little while the sunroof is off. The 944 has a huge sunroof, it's nice to have the car that open.

BTW, 'Moonroof' usually denotes a glass panel, while 'Sunroof' is more commonly used with a metal panel, like the 944s. Unless you are lucky enough to have a Saratoga top...

you just unhinge the back half of the roof, lift it up with the leather strap still attached, and stand the sunroof up on the two clips. They fit into the rain gutter.

Roof?

Oh yeah that rectangular bit of metal that came with the car.

I think it's in the garage somewhere...

the deflector does work. the amount of buffet usually varies with the angle of the deflector. try it out to see what angle works best at various speeds

I drive mostly with the sunroof off and the wind deflector at a 30 degree angle. I think it makes the least amount of noise and drag just as long as a window is cracked a 1/2" to relieve pressure in the cabin from the buffeting. I do notice a reduction of top speed by 5- 10 mph though.

I try to drive with the windows down and the sunroof off. I just crank the heater if it is cold out (like at nugh in the freeway. It actually kinda cozy with the top off and the heat on.

P.S. Is it just me or is the resolution on this site all messed up right now?

If nesting polls is allowed:

How many of you (who remove the sunroof) keep the roof in the car with you while enjoying the sunshine? If so, do you go through the trouble of strapping it in? I just lay mine in the back, but I am a little wary of the implications during an accident.

I try to leave mine off as much as possible. Since I park in a garage I can just leave it off most all of the time. I just have a crappy stereo and nothing expensive in the car so I dont worry all that much about stuff being stolen.

I just put my sunroof in the back. There are straps? I guess my car doesnt have them.

I've tried it a couple of times...
Noise wasn't that bad, atleast maybe i don't remember. Since it's been a while. The reason i stopped was becasue of the black goo that is on my hands after i take it off and put it on. lol... But I gotta say it's a good feeling to have it open.

Oh, and.. Saratoga top here.

Later all.
