Freakin headlight motor

Headlights got stuck while trying to lower them a few months ago.

Bought a new headlight motor relay, worked fine for 3 months, then same problem.

SO..... I bought another motor relay, but it doesn't help this time. So is it the motor itself crapping out ($$$$), or the mechanical linkage between left and right side possibly binding? What the Hell? Last time when it got stuck it drained my battery and the headlight motor got real hot in the process. If I sound tired and drunk it's because I am. Thanks for any help.

ha ha, been there, got the t-shirt. its no fun driving along with your headlights going thru full rotation, AND NOT STOPPING! after a couple days, then they stuck in full up position. new relay, and headlight switch to follow. plus bucket of spare switch's/relays!
good luck with your repair.

Thanks. Where is the headlight switch, and how do I replace it? Are you talking about a switch inside/behind the headlight control knob on the dash?

Will the head lights go up, if you turn the motor knob a bit? If it is, you might have burned up the diodes in the motor when it over heated. That happened on my 924. Replaced motor all good now.

The headlight motor fuse is a good one to know if you need to pull it quickly.

Check the grounds first. Always. Mine were opening or closing partially. I simply unplugged the connection to the motor and plugged it back in. Problem solved.
Lots of grounds, lots of problems solved by cleaning them.
Good luck!
