fan hitting lower radiator hose

I got my cooling system flushed the other day. They found that my headlight assembly was hitting an upper radiator hose and was starting to wear a hole. Anyway, they put a new hose on and finished the job.

This afternoon I got done changing my spark plugs and noticed that my right (passenger side) fan lightly hits my lower radiator hose. Is there a bracket or some kind of shield I can get that will keep the hose further away? There's no room to just push the hose aside, maybe I can move the fans over a little bit?

I had this same problem when I upgraded to 6 blade fans. You can cut a small amount off the top end of the lower radiator hose and reinstall it. This will keep it far enough away from the fan.

I had the problem as well. Just loosen the lower radiator hose and pull it out a little, then re-tighten. It should be about 1/4 inch away from the fan.

Bet your engine mounts are shot.

Giving the hose a twist at the water pump may help.

Does your radiator move around at all? Your radiator might have "fallen out" of it's mounts.

Well, i'm pretty sure Hugh is right again. I did the engine mount test, and they're pretty much nonexistant. Once I get my ramp-lift built, that'll be the first thing I do.

OK Ken, your $10 is in the mail.

I found out a few years ago that the fan hitting the hose was because my engine mounts were bad.
