So the electrical problems I have had with my car just took on a whole new meaning.
So I just got back from lunch break yesterday at work and was in the back of my office when I heard my name being yelled over the intercom. I run up to the front and see everyone going outside, and when I was noticed they told me my car was on fire. I totally did not believe them at first but ran outside to see the shop guys extinguishing the bottom of my car. It turns out that my starter shorted out (I am not totally sure where yet but I think it is internal) and ran my car into the car in front of its since I left it in first gear (my e-brake is out right now). My car proceeded to push on this other car using the starter which overheated it and caused it to catch fire!! ![]() There were two witnesses who are shop guys that were outside when they heard my car trying to start and looked over to see it crash into the other car. They ran up to the car thinking I was in it and then ran inside to grab extinguishers when they saw I wasnt there and that it was starting to smoke. So I am hoping there is not too much damage. But its pretty ridiculous that my car started itself on perfectly level ground and ran into another car and then catches fire. Anybody in the Chicago area have a starter they want to sell me? And how hard is it to replace the electrical leads to the starter if they are fried?

Sounds like an episode of Pinky and the Brain
Maybe the car it hit said something unkind. Was it Asian?

You guys are killing me. My car was locked so it was definately not someone trying to steel it. I am planning on working on it tomorrow and I will let you guys know what I find.

"Ohhhhh I got a gal named Bony Maroni......."
On a more serious note: The leads are quite easy to replace. As stupid as this might sound, make sure the cables are disconnected from the battery first. (I know this sounds elemental, but we did have a poster back a while that didn't want to do that because he would "lose his presets").
