Window Glass Rattle?

Well, my driver's window has been noticeably slower than the passenger side for, well, for ever. I've been meaning to dismantle the door and lube the guides and fit the window express kit for some time.

Recently, the window suddenly making a "glass against metal" rattle if you leave it half-open whilst driving along. This is obviously Bad.

All the rubber weatherstrip etc. looks exactly the same as it always did, so it's obviously something inside...

Does anyone have any idea what's likely to be dislodged/missing/broken when I dismantle it? Be nice to have the part(s) to hand...

Also, WTF are you supposed to use to lube the window guides? I have a vision of felt or something inside a U-shaped strip of lightweight metal - wouldn't that just get nasty with e.g. WD40 or silicon
